SGTJ is Looking for Social Entrepreneurs to Start Your Own Social Food Initiative to Support the People in Need in Your Community.
We are thrilled to announce an exciting new initiative in Food Sustainability and Security. As part of our Social Entrepreneurial Opportunity in Food Sustainability and Security project, SGTJ is seeking passionate and concerned individuals to collaborate with us in creating and sustaining impactful social food projects that contribute to community well-being and food security globally.
Below are some of the types of projects you can start to make great and lasting impacts:
Hot Meals Food Truck or Kiosk
Serve healthy, freshly prepared meals using local products, ensuring that people in need have access to one hot and healthy meal a day.
Imagine driving through the heart of our community, serving delicious, nutritious meals to those in need. By starting a hot meals food truck or kiosk, you will not only provide immediate relief to those struggling with food insecurity but also promote the values of compassion and generosity, contributing to a healthier community and improving people's quality of life.
SGTJ will support you with funding, resources, and training to get your food truck or kiosk rolling, along with ongoing donations to help cover costs.
Community Food Basket Program
Create a ripple effect of kindness by starting a community food basket program. This initiative involves collecting and distributing food baskets filled with essential groceries and healthy snacks to families facing financial hardship. By partnering with local farmers, grocery stores, and volunteers, you will ensure that nutritious food reaches those who need it most. Your efforts will foster a sense of community and support for vulnerable households. SGTJ will provide funding, resources, training, and ongoing donations to ensure the success of your program.

Social Restaurant Conversion
Transform your local restaurant into a social enterprise that champions food sustainability and security. By allocating a portion of your restaurant's resources and profits to providing discounted or free meals to those in need, you will make a significant impact on hunger in our community. Additionally, you can organize food education workshops, cooking classes, and community events to raise awareness about sustainable food practices and nutrition. SGTJ will assist with funding, resources, training, and ongoing donations to support your conversion efforts.
Urban Farming and Community Gardens
Embrace the power of urban agriculture by starting an urban farm or community garden. This project will involve cultivating fresh produce in urban spaces, such as vacant lots or rooftop gardens. By growing organic fruits and vegetables, you will provide a local source of healthy food, reduce food miles, and promote environmentally friendly practices. Community gardens can also serve as educational hubs, teaching residents about gardening, nutrition, and sustainable living. SGTJ will offer funding, resources, training, and ongoing donations to help your garden flourish.
Food Rescue and Redistribution Network
Tackle food waste and hunger simultaneously by establishing a food rescue and redistribution network. This project involves collecting surplus food from restaurants, grocery stores, and farms and redistributing it to shelters, food banks, and families in need. By rescuing perfectly good food that would otherwise go to waste, you will contribute to both environmental sustainability and food security. Your network will play a crucial role in ensuring that surplus food is put to good use. SGTJ will support you with funding, resources, training, and ongoing donations to maintain your network.
We invite you to join us in this meaningful journey towards food sustainability and security. Together, we can create a positive impact and build a stronger, more resilient community. If you are interested in participating or learning more, complete this form.
